You can't compare these things. It's completely different.

No matter where you camp/hide your opponents can ALWAYS see you and defend themselfs. Only if you camp in the water, than the opponents don't have any chance to see you/shoot at you. That's obviously unfair advantage.
The few places where the enemies can't see you are called glitches and are forbidden (outletpipe, e.g.) imho water-tac-camping is also a glitch.

There's a difference between (dis-)advantages the map gives you and (dis-)advantages that alter the player's perception. And I'm not talking about LSD here.

Most of the UrT maps are designed to give certain advantages for both campers.. sorry, snipers.. (who most of the time cannot do their freaking job..) and the players who do play offensive. Snipers are meant to serve as backup for the attackers, clearing their way from other snipers that try to prevent the attackers from reaching the opponents side. While attackers should take out the "footsoldiers". This is not the case on Eagle.

To be really honest, I play offensive and am forced to take out the opponent's snipers, which is not a very easy task. The times when I do play sniper, there is always someone from the same team camping in front of me preventing me from doing the job a sniper has.

Anyway, back to the issue. On Eagle the map's water is not clear and the way the tacs are designed give the watercamper a very easy and unfair advantage over those not wearing tacs. Tacs in water combined with a G36, gives both an unfair advantage as well as a clear aim as the frag area with the G36 is very small compared to other weapons.

If the water was indeed clear on Eagle, tacs woudln't be such an issue as you (the non-tac wearers) could easily take out the water campers.

Eagle is indeed not designed correctly as one of the site's have more advantages than the other. I haven't done much mapping in UrT but I've done a few things in other games where mapping can indeed be done. A good map should indeed give (or aim to give) as many advantages as disadvantages on both sides.. which again isn't the case with Eagle.

I've been gone from the game for 2-3 years, and by now you would have thought the that gameplay on Eagle would have changed, right? The case is that it hasn't. The same people that were camping on Eagle before I quit playing are still camping in the same spots as they were 3 years ago. Maybe players have gotten a better aim, but their game style sure hasn't changed.

Since I have been playing DN Eagle I have seen a constant influx of new players and a server that is often full. The DN Eagle Game Tracker ranking went from 100 + to six in just days, so you are doing something right.

You banned spawn killing which is really not a game changer. Banning Tactical Goggles will be a game changer for many and I think you will lose some if not many players.

I played Wild Cats clan WC Eagle often when it was operating. WC Eagle consistently ranked three on Game Tracker, spawn killing and Tac Goggles were allowed. What made WC Eagle popular was they did not tolerate cheats, asshats and those that violated rules. Their demise was when they stopped monitoring the server. Many players I knew from WC Eagle I now see on DN Eagle.

I belong to a group called Old Dogs (OD). Old Dogs operated three No Tac servers (FFA), but one was recently shut down due to lack of players. The remaining two servers are rarely full and most often do not have players. Why they don't have more players, I don't know.

I say allow Tactical Goggles if you want to keep players. Maybe have certain days for No Tacs.

Only a small percentage of actual players are registered on DrunkNoobs website, yet there are over 150 players that have played over 10 hours each. Any vote you make will only represent a small percentage of players.

yeh these water campers are really annoying and now when you see them without it and not camping you can see they're aren't skilled as they show it camping in water with tacs .. +1 to ban tacs :D

- the tactical toggles are a normal part of the inventory of our game , so everyone can use it....a possible disadvantage is only at the gamers that decide no to store the googles in their inventory
- the water campers : use the goggles, jump into the water and kill them .... everyone in this game can be killed!

Banning the goggles is only one thing , the other things would be that you HAVE to disable the smoke nades too! Without goggles it would be too easy for a group of red players to smoke the train station and the tunnel from spawn to outlet pipe and the ladder from outlet pipe into the castle. This would it make impossible for the blue invaders to enter the castle from these places. Bridge and lift / lift ladder would stay as the only possible points to enter the castle...too easy to defend! ;)

Modding seems to be a smart idea, BUT : modding is not supported by FS and can be seen as a blatant case of copyright infringement! See this:" readme42.txt wrote:

But think about this: the clear water CAN prevent from the water campers, BUT also all other "waterrats " are visible too! Swimming from castle to the boathouse or vice versa? Forget it if the water is clear , everyone can see and kill you if you try it !

May i honestly suggest to let all like it is ? Exactly at this moment,with this configuration , with goggles and "dirty" water the |DN| Eagle 24/7 server is so successful !
In some sports they say : "Never change a winning team!"
Some computer freaks say: " Never change a running system!"

So why change the game or the map? We all love it like it is, or not?

last time i camped in water on Eagle was honestly like 3-4 weeks ago.

Is there anyone except me... even a single person, having the same feeling that 98% of players use the word "camping/camper/campers" without having any idea what it means?

Walking/running through bridge from castle area to WV/quaiside (however you wirte it) is not camping on the bridge.
Walking/running through trainbridge from cargo station to EV is not camping on the trainbridge.
Swimming from (for example) outlet pipe to boathouse is not camping.
Which one of those is too hard to get? (question directed specially to people who cry about "watercamper" whenever they get shot from water... no matter if the oerson was really watercamping, or just swimming from one part of map to another...) (funny cause when such a person, who cries bout "watercampers" gets shot from bridge, he/she doesnt cry about "bridgecamper"...)


the rule like "watercamping forbidden" - seriously? That will give admin MILLIONS OF TONS of senseless work (getting that person to stop cry, checking if the "watercamper" was really "watercamping" than finally explaining to the one who "cried" why no actions were taken against the "watercamper" which wasnt really watercamping (or maybe in this case he actually was? But when he saw another person cry/inform admin, he would immidietly stop it, start swimming, or even go on the land...)

You all know my opinion. Keep the game what it is - UT is UT, dont make it CS.
My opinion is the same when comes to disabling not just tacs - but any part of equipment, or any guns/weapons.

The best option and possibly the best solution would be for FrozenSand to make Tacs a default item in your inventory and from there toggleable for all players and not just a selectable item from the list.

There are several advantages with/if a change like this:
- Toggling tacs would open up the possibility to take out all types of players.
- It would open up one more item slot in your inventory.
- You get shot by a water camper, you hide, pop on your tacs and take the water camper out (eliminating the advantage the idiomatic texture the water has on Eagle)
- One more tactic added to your gaming style. Always check water first before crossing bridges.
- Everyone can "see through" smoke + water; making the use of smoke nades more versatile and a bit more challenging. As currently you just have to throw one out... Most don't even know how to use this type of nade.
- The game style on Eagle (and other maps) would (hopefully) change, thus improving every player's ability to improvise as well as set up different tactics other than just camp in one spot for several minutes or hours.

There may be many more but those are the ones I can think of right now.
